2024 New Year and Valentine’s Day Important Announcement

Key Points

  • Update 2/13: We are booked up and no longer taking orders for delivery on the 14th and 15th. Our apologies for the inconvenience. You can still stop by the shop and pick up flowers (as described below). Selection is limited to available flowers, so we suggest you stop by the shop and browse rather than ordering online.
  • Only dried flowers, preserved roses/flowers, and non-flower gift baskets will be delivered between Feb 13th and 15th, inclusive. (No fresh/cut flowers)
  • Most offices and many workplaces will be closed on the 13th and 14th. Check before ordering.
  • Delivery area is limited for Feb 13th – 15. No deliveries to distant locations such as Linkou, Danshui, Taoyuan, Keelung, etc.
  • You can see the selection here (but read the rest of the message first.)

Lunar (Chinese) New Year

The official government Lunar (Chinese) New-Year holiday runs from February 8th through February 14th. New Year flowers can be sent anytime between now (Jan 18th) and February 7th. Please note that Avignon Florist will be closed and will not be making deliveries for the period of February 8th through February 12th, in observance of the Lunar New Year holiday. We will monitor our email during this period. See holiday schedule below.

Valentine’s Day

We will be open for deliveries on the 13th and 14th for Valentine’s Day orders. However, Valentine’s Day falls during the official government holiday, so there will be some significant limitations on product availability and scheduling. Please finish reading this post before ordering.

The wholesale flower market for fresh flowers is a government-operated facility, so they will be closed for the entire New Year holiday from February 8th to February 14th. This means that we cannot purchase fresh flowers for Valentine’s Day orders. Therefore, our selection for February 13th through the 15th is limited to dried flower bouquets, non-flower (e.g. chocolates/snacks ) gift baskets, and a limited range of cut flowers that can be stored for a longer time without losing freshness (e.g. NOT roses). We have created a selection of dried flower arrangements and chocolate gift baskets that can be delivered for Valentine’s Day. You can see the selection here:

Please note that all flower shops in Taiwan in the same situation. Some shops may decide to purchase flowers prior to the holiday and store them until Valentine’s Day. We try to always offer the best possible quality flowers, so we have opted not to do this.

In addition, offices will still be closed on the 13th and 14th. Some businesses, such as retail, may be open. If you plan to deliver flowers to a workplace, please be sure that it will be open. Furthermore, many people travel during the New Year Holiday, so even if you are delivering to a home, please be sure that the recipient (or someone) will be there to receive the flowers. Dried flowers will keep, so as long as someone, such as a security or concierge desk, is there to receive the flowers, they will be waiting for the recipient when they return.

Finally, there are some limitations on delivery area for the 13th through 15th. We cannot deliver to locations far from central Taipei, such as any addresses in Taoyuan , Linkou, Danshui, Bali, Keelung, etc. People will be returning from the Chinese New Year holiday, so traffic on the Highway will be very heavy.

In summary, there will be NO deliveries between February 8th and February 12, there will be only dried flower or non flower deliveries on February 13th, 14th, and 15th, and deliveries should be made to home addresses only on the 13th and 14th, unless you have checked that the workplace will be open. We thank you for shopping with us and wish you a happy New Year and Valentine’s Day.

(Additional Note: We understand that having only dried flowers is less than ideal, and we apologize for the inconvenience. It is not the ideal situation for us, either. We understand if you wish to find a shop that has fresh flowers. However, we strongly suggest you ensure that you are ordering from an actual shop in Taiwan. Many internet shops may not be familiar with the situation in Taiwan. They may take your order but have trouble filling it. )
